Here are some of the major differences from the 1st time:
1) I forget all about the belly, until I see it in the mirror or when Leighton uses my as a bouncy seat. Here it is at 11 weeks.
4) I'm not sending you weekly belly news! I'm not even reading belly news! Well, once in a while.
5) We are considering finding out the sex ahead of time.
6) I WILL get a birth announcement out this time! I WILL, I WILL, I WILL!!!
And some things just don't change:
1) I think Kelly knew I was pregnant within 14 hours as my trademark irritability kicked in with the very first hormone.
2) I'm not sure which 70's/80's comedian remarked on this truth (I'm thinking Bill Cosby in his "Drugs" sketch, but hey, I have mommy brain right now). He's wondering why people get drunk and do drugs like alcohol and cocaine to have fun. The argument offered is that it "intensifies your personality," to which he responds, "but what if you're an *@%hole?" For me, pregnancy is like cocaine, intensifying primarily my lesser qualities...impatience, judgement, irritability, etc. Yikes. Feel free to check in with me in a few months, I promise I'll get better!
3) I can't cook/bake/prepare food when I'm pregnant without making somekind of random rookie error. (Case in point, the below image from the last few weeks with Leighton...really, how big does the pan have to be?)
4) In an attempt to debunk the typical 2nd child syndrome pitfalls, I'm keeping a belly journal, just like I did with Leighton. I'm going to try SO hard to keep notes for this baby as he/she grows with us.
5) I have the most wonderful, supportive, adoring (and adorable) husband in the world! What would I ever do without him?
